Onions are one of the basic items available in Indian houses. One of my favorite dishes is fried onions because they have such a unique flavor you won't find anywhere else! It's easy enough to make at home too: just slice up your desired amount of peeled fresh yellow or white onion (I prefer brown), place those pieces into some olive oil heated on medium/low heat until soft (about 8 minutes). Once softened, add salt as desired.
It is a basic dish to prepare when not in the mood to eat vegetables or tired enough to cook and chop veggies. Just cut onions fry and add spices and boom! the dish is ready. Easy to make and delicious.
If there are onions at home, you don’t have to worry even if there are no vegetables for the day. You can easily prepare delicious onion fry with ingredients available at home. This fry goes well with plain rice and rasam. Onions are fried till brown, which emanate a fine aroma.
Cut onions lengthwise and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan and fry til and peanuts. Then add onions and fry. Do not cover the pan.
Grind together salt, red chillies and cumin in a mixer to a fine paste. Add this paste after onions are fried. Mix well and remove from flame.
Serve hot with plain rice or with rasam.

While sautéing the onions until golden brown or deep brown, make sure that the onions don't stick on the bottom. As soon as the onions start changing colours, they need to be stirred continuously to avoid them from sticking on the bottom of the pan.
