The name ‘kohlrabi’ is German for “cabbage turnip” and stems from the fact that it looks a little like one. This vegetable goes by many names, including ‘German turnip’, but despite its common names it isn’t actually related to the root vegetables we know as cabbage or potatoes – being in actuality another type of Brassica oleracea: Gongylodes Group. The plant’s edible stem can be eaten raw while both leaves and stalk are also used when cooking with this succulent green veggie which stands tall at about just over 2 feet in height.
